We Went Exploring!!

One thing that I knew I would miss a lot after moving was the lakes. Those endless hours on the beach, and having a blast with family and friends out on the boat.

So last weekend Ryan wanted to show me the lakes here, so we went for a drive with a few friends into the mountains to find Lake Barcis. It is AMAZING!! It forms from the snow that melts off the tip of the mountains, so the water is incredibly clear but pretty chilly.

In order to get there we had to go through many tunnels in the mountains and over one of the most narrow bridges I have ever seen, it hardly fit our car!!!

This tunnel was a few miles long. It was surprising how cold the air got while driving through.

Once we got there my trusty companions and I decided that we wanted to climb the mountain, so up we went on all fours, since we decided the smooth incline wasn't for us. This is a photo of the guys just before the climb. (I forgot to take one after with our legs all scratched up).

It was a really great day!!! They are far different from the lakes back home but they are beautiful and I think they will fill the gap quite nicely. ;o)

A quick Hi, Hello!!

I made it!!!! Finally here in Italy and I couldn't be happier. For those of you who have been wanting to see pictures here is a quick shot that was taken right by our house.

We live about 15 minutes from base and the entire drive is filled with vineyards and cobblestone streets. I don't think it could be more beautiful here. We are so excited to go exploring in the mountains and find the hidden lakes that we have heard about, although the great lakes can never be replaced. ;o)
